Unlike most car dealerships that are passed on down through the family, Lee Motors was established in 1973 on a wing and a prayer and a very large loan by an ambitious and hardworking car salesman named “Bumper” Lee. He moved to Alexandria from Brainerd, purchasing two GM dealerships and combining them into Lee Motors, Inc., which moved to the present location in 1979.

Bumper’s commitment to honesty and good business served the company well as it began operation with 8 employees during the 1973 oil embargo. Today those same basic principles have made Lee Motors one of the most enduring dealerships in the area. Long term employees who are committed to the original principles are, according to Bumper Lee, the backbone of the business.

Pat McMahon has been Lee Motors sales manager since the business opened and offers a wide range of knowledge on both product and finance. Many Lee Motors employees have been with the company for over ten years.
